چکیده

Testing may be used to show that a system under test conforms to its specification. In the case of a distributed system, one may have to use a distributed test architecture, involving p testers in order to test the system under test. These p testers may under some circumstances have to coordinate their actions with each other using external coordination channels. This may require the use of up to p − p unidirectional coordination channels in the test architecture, which can be an extensive and expensive setup. In this paper, we propose a method to generate checking sequences while minimizing the number of required coordination channels, by adapting existing methods that generate checking sequences to be applied in a centralized test architecture. We consider the case of unidirectional and bidirectional coordination channels, and the case of transitive coordination.

Overcoming controllability problems with fewest channels between testers

When testing a system that has multiple physically distributed ports/interfaces it is normal to place a tester at each port. Each tester observes only the events at its port and it is known that this can lead to additional controllability problems. While such controllability problems can be overcome by the exchange of external coordination messages between the testers, this requires the deploym...

A Two-Threshold Guard Channel Scheme for Minimizing Blocking Probability in Communication Networks

In this paper, we consider the call admission problem in cellular network with two classes of voice users. In the first part of paper, we introduce a two-threshold guard channel policy and study its limiting behavior under the stationary traffic. Then we give an algorithm for finding the optimal number of guard channels. In the second part of this paper, we give an algorithm, which minimizes th...

An Expert System Based Architecture for Testing Distributed Systems

In the distributed test context, where a set of parallel testers exchange some I/O messages to perform the test, the implementation process must consider the mechanisms and functions required to support interaction as long as the communication and the coordination between distributed testing components. The typical reactions of such systems are the generation of errors such as time outs, locks,...

Optimal Distributed Generation Planning in Radial Distribution Networks Considering Protection Coordination Limits

Distributed generation (DG) has been widely used in distribution network to reduce the energy losses, improve voltage profile and system reliability, etc.  The location and capacity of DG units can influence on probability of protection mal-operation in distribution networks. In this paper, a novel model for DG planning is proposed to find the optimum DG location and sizing in radial distr...

Flow shop Scheduling Problem with Maintenance Coordination: a New Approach

This study investigates the coordination of production scheduling and maintenance planning in theflow shop scheduling environment. The problem is considered in a bi-objective form, minimizing themakespan as the production scheduling criterion and minimizing the system unavailability as themaintenance planning criterion. The time interval between consecutive maintenance activities as well as the...
